Hi, I’m Kewal Wright.

I am a community organizer and facilitator of multi-faceted individual and group events that support health and well-being. I am the founder of The Welcome Wellspring, a non-profit providing support funding and wellness services that bridge the gap in accessibility. I am also a writer-researcher, continuing independent research through ongoing passion projects.

My work centers around topics of healing, spirituality, sexuality, altered states of consciousness, and mental health. I completed my MA in Women and Gender Studies at Arizona State University. Using a multidisciplinary approach, I draw upon studies in family and human development, counseling and psychology, human sexuality, and a long career in wellness and healing fields. Throughout my career life, I have owned and directed multiple yoga centers, managed non-profit organizations and community programs, worked in midwifery, and have been a teacher and trainer of yoga and meditation for over 25 years. I was a co-founder of Yoga Yoga, one the first yoga centers in the state of Texas.  Additionally I am Reiki practitioner (attuning Master level trained), a birth doula, and a long-time practitioner of therapeutic sound, dance, and movement practices. I live in Phoenix, Arizona with my two children.

How do entheogens impact the experience and expression of sexuality?

I am continuing research on the topics of entheogens, altered states, and sexuality, which often circles back to core issues of self-acceptance, self-love, and connection.  What began as exploratory research as part of a master's project, has now evolved into interviews and independent research and is branching into questions around how some forms of dance may impact sexual expression and body image.

An article I wrote that touches on findings from my initial survey research can be found here: Can Psychedelics Open Us to Pleasure?

I was interviewed by Stuart Preston about my research topic on this podcast episode: Sexuality, Pleasure, & Psychedelics
